Description: Jethro Tull - Benefit Collector's Edition (2013) [FLAC] (DVD9 NTSC) Label: Chrysalis – 825646413270 Format: 2 × CD, Album, Reissue, Mixed, A Collector's Edition DVD, Multichannel, NTSC Country: Europe Released: 28 Oct 2013 Genre: Rock Style: Blues Rock The previous "Stand Up" can be considered in all respects the first true Jethro Tull album. We can not speak of a denial of the debut album as in the case of Genesis, but surely, with the second album our delineates clearly out their sounds and what is the concept of making music of Ian Anderson, now undisputed leader of the band. But the grueling American tour put the albionic quartet to the test, forced to spend most of their life away from their beloved homeland. The one to blame the hardships of a life on the road the most was Ian Anderson, who was beginning to have bad thoughts that would have led to a resounding dissolution of the band on the most beautiful, when after years of apprenticeship they had deservedly managed to join the elite of the rock music. Even Martin Barre could not bear spending almost six months a year in America, ditto for the granite rhythm section, which could no longer savor the other pleasures of life. Before reaching the most drastic of decisions, our decision to try to cut the dates in the New Continent, visibly reducing them. The return to Morgan Studios to compose new material was the panacea of all evils, especially for Ian Anderson, who poured all his frustrations into the new compositions, which in addition to the inconveniences due to the grueling US tour, dealt with relations with parents and with Chrysalis secretary Jennie Franks, who will soon become his wife. There was an important change of the guard behind the mix, as a new sound engineer was hired Robin Black, who in the future will remain alongside the band for a long time. As for the previous album, also for the new "Benefit (Vantaggio)" the title was chosen by the producer Terry Ellis. Being in the middle between the excellent "Stand Up" and the absolute masterpiece "Aqualung", the third studio album by Jethro Tull was as if obscured, often mistreated by the band itself and considered a sort of watershed. But this does not mean that it is an album to throw away, on the contrary, although it does not contain essential classics of the group, it has not struggled to enter indelibly in the hearts of the fans. Ian Anderson, in addition to disengaging himself with the flute and the six acoustic strings, made a strong contribution with the rhythm guitar, playing the Gibson SG lent to him by Martin Barre Tracklist: The Steven Wilson 2013 Stereo Mixes CD1-1 With You There To Help Me 6:20 CD1-2 Nothing To Say 5:13 CD1-3 Alive And Well And Living In 2:48 CD1-4 Son 2:53 CD1-5 For Michael Collins, Jeffrey And Me 3:49 CD1-6 To Cry You A Song 6:16 CD1-7 A Time For Everything 2:45 CD1-8 Inside 4:38 CD1-9 Play In Time 3:49 CD1-10 Sossity; You're A Woman 4:37 CD1-11 Singing All Day 3:07 CD1-12 Sweet Dream 4:03 CD1-13 17 6:20 CD1-14 Teacher (UK Single Version) 4:58 CD1-15 Teacher (US Album Version) 4:03 Associated Recordings 1969-70 CD2-1 Singing All Day (Mono) (Previously Unreleased Mix) 3:08 CD2-2 Sweet Dream (Mono) 4:04 CD2-3 17 (Mono) 6:11 CD2-4 Sweet Dream (Stereo) (Previously Unreleased Mix) 4:14 CD2-5 17 (Stereo) (Previously Unreleased Mix) 5:32 CD2-6 The Whitch's Promise (Mono) 4:01 CD2-7 Teacher (Mono) (UK Single Version) 4:51 CD2-8 Teacher (Mono) (US Album Version) 4:00 CD2-9 The Whitch's Promise (Stereo) 3:51 CD2-10 Teacher (Stereo) (UK Single Version) 4:51 CD2-11 Teacher (Stereo) (US Album Version) 4:00 CD2-12 Inside (Mono) (Single Edit) 2:43 CD2-13 Alive And Well And Living In (Mono) 2:48 CD2-14 A Time For Everything (Mono) 2:46 CD2-15 Reprise Radio Spot 1 (Mono) 1:05 CD2-16 Reprise Radio Spot 2 (Stereo) 1:05 Phonographic Copyright (p) – Chrysalis Records Ltd.
