Featured Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra
This 2005 concert features the Vienna Philharmonic conducted by Lorin Maazel in works by Johann Strauss, Joseph Strauss, von Suppe, Hellmesberger, and Eduard Struass. Also included are special ballet scenes performed by Polina Semionova, gold medal winner of two Moscow Ballet Competitions - choreographed by Vladimir Malakov, director of the Berlin State Opera Ballet.

Shot in Vienna, this concert from 2005 carries on the traditional welcoming in of the new year from the Vienna Philharmonic, and was shot on January 1st. Conductor Lorin Maazel guides the orchestra through their performance, which denotes the 25th year since he first took charge of the New Year show. Capturing a wonderfully historic moment, this release is testament to both Maazel's talents, and the rich tradition of the Vienna Philharmonic.
