We are at the end of the year and the inspector, who receives invitations from all over for the New Year's Eve dinner, would not really want to go to Paris with Livia. Among others he was invited by Adelina, the lady who prepares his lunches and arranges his house, happy to be able to celebrate the end of the year with her two children who are simultaneously and exceptionally out of prison. The investigation concerns the death, which is to be passed off as a simple accident, of the lady and Mr. Pagnozzi, who crashed their car into a ravine. The commissioner will also solve the case with the help of Pasquale, one of Adelina's children, meanwhile returned to jail for theft in the villa of the spouses who died in the accident: the culprit is Calogero Picone known as Gerry, illegitimate son of the man born of relationship with a beautiful maid, who has always hated her father, and his partner and son, since they have taken the places that belonged to him and his mother, forcing them instead to a life of hardship. Once the case has been resolved, the commissioner will temporarily release Pasquale to accompany him to participate in the end-of-year party and therefore have the opportunity to savor Adelina's delicious arancini.
