L'Esorcista - Il Credente, film diretto da David Gordon Green, racconta la storia di Victor Fielding (Leslie Odom Jr.), rimasto vedovo, dopo che sua moglie è morta durante un terremoto ad Haiti, avvenuto dodici anni prima. L'uomo ha cresciuto la figlia, Angela (Lidya Jewett), completamente da solo.
Un giorno Angela insieme alla sua amica Katherine (Olivia Marcum) scompare misteriosamente nel bosco, per riapparire tre giorni dopo senza alcuna memoria di cosa sia accaduto. Da questo momento in poi si scateneranno una serie di oscuri eventi che porteranno Victor faccia a faccia con il male, nella sua forma più terribile.
