Nastradin lived in the 13th century according to some in Turkey,
and according to others – in Persia. It is connected with
the folklore not only of the Turks, as commonly claimed,
but also with those of the Persians, Azeris, Kurds,
Bengalis, Pakistanis, as well as with the traditions of more
a dozen nations - Kazakhs, Tajiks, Turkmen, Bashkirs, Uzbeks,
Crimean Tatars, Bosnians, Romanians, Greeks, Albanians, Armenians,
Sephardim, Serbs and with us, the Bulgarians.
In the Muslim world, the name "hodja" as an addition to the name
emphasizes his education and well-readness,
it is synonymous with sage and teacher.
The image of Nastradin Hoxha reconciles at the same time
wisdom and stupidity, cunning and ingenuity, philosophy, ridicule...
