Overview: The Betrayal is my first published book. it is an historical action fiction around the era of King Offa of Mercia 757 AD. The Betrayal is the first instalment of my series The Mercian Tales. The books will follow the life and adventures of a loyal warrior of King Offa. Oswi and his loyal friends will see action, brutal bloody battles, death and dishonesty, honour, loyalty, friendship and love. Book 1 The Betrayal will be released Nov 2022. I hope to have the 2nd instalment The Revenge ready to release late 2023 with the 3rd instalment The Justice late 2024.

01 The Betrayal
Farndon a small walled village, sat upon a rock by the River Dee, in the Mercian Kingdom of King Offa.
Eldrig Thane of Farndon is beset by raiders killing and burning, his Captain unable to deal with the problems.
Eldrig seeks aid from his liege lord and King.
King Offa provides support, a young promising warrior Oswi & his long-time mentor Bern with a troop of new aspiring warriors to help Eldrig.
Oswi later hears the King is in trouble and sets of with his troop to aid the King.
Trouble then follows, at Farndon, that Oswi must deal with.
Death, kidnap, fighting and slaughter, the young Oswi must take on the responsibilities of a Lord to battle through and ensure justice is served.
Who will betray him…….
Will he succeed…….
Can he survive……..
The future of Farndon sits with Oswi and his companions.
02 The Revenge
Ealdorman Oswi and Lady Eleen are to be married in the summer in the small town of Holt. But first Oswi must once more follow his King to battle.
The king is heading south to support his Sussex Ealdormen, who are under attack from the marauding King Wattus of the Haestingas tribe who is reaching out to extend his lands.
Healfden after surviving the battle at Farndon made his way home and now seeks a new home in the north. He needs a new place to venture out from to kill and steal and draw new warriors to him. the defeat at Farndon and the disloyalty of some of his warriors irks him still. He seeks revenge against Oswi and Mercia.
Berg former friend and of Healfden and his old mentor Frode both have difficult choices and challenges to make which could put them in harms way.
Afan the young chief who's father supported Jarl Healfden see's his siblings safely hidden with family then journeys to seek his own revenge on Healfden who he blames for his fathers death and Oswi for the loss of Holt.
Oswi must once more prove his battle skills fighting for King Offa. Oswi suffers as a close friend dies, finds loyalty from a new warrior, learns of a great deception.
Oswi must battle with his friends and comrades to win through and survive in the extremes of King Offa's realm and beyond, so he can return home and marry Lady Eleen.
Honour, Deception, Loyalty, Cruelty, friendship, Mistrust and Love along with hard fought battles. Oswi must overcome it all. |
