Il potere del cane, il film diretto da Jane Campion, ambientato negli anni '20, precisamente nel 1925, vede al centro della storia la coppia dei ricchi fratelli Burbank, Phil (Benedict Cumberbatch) e George (Jesse Plemons), proprietari di un enorme ranch in Montana che domina la vallata. I due sono molto diversi tra loro: Phil è un uomo brillante ma crudele, con un atteggiamento prepotente e violento, mentre George è una persona testarda e puntigliosa, ma sempre gentile.
