One of the leading R&B group of the 1950's, they were the first black group to be accepted as a major chart act, and for a short time, were the most successful vocal in world. "Only You" was their first hit in 1955, reaching No. 5 in the Billboard chart. This was followed by "The Great Pretender", "My Prayer" and "Twilight Time" which were all US No. 1s. But their biggest hit came in 1959 whith the international number one and multi-million selling song "Smoke Gets In Your Eyes".
