Plot Summary:
After the tragic death of her mother, teenager Quinn Maybrook and her father, Dr. Glenn Maybrook, relocate from Philadelphia to the small town of Kettle Springs, Missouri, seeking a fresh start. The town, once thriving due to the Baypen Corn Syrup Factory, is now economically depressed following the factory’s closure and subsequent destruction by fire—a disaster blamed on local youth Cole Hill and his friends.
As Quinn adjusts to her new environment, she befriends Cole and his group, including Janet, Ronnie, Tucker, and Matt. The town is rife with tension between the conservative adults and the rebellious teens, exacerbated by the teens’ online prank videos featuring Frendo, the factory’s former clown mascot.
The situation escalates when a figure dressed as Frendo begins a murderous spree, targeting the town’s youth. As the body count rises, Quinn and her friends must uncover the truth behind the killings and confront the horrors lurking within the cornfields.
