Crazy Frog
Crazy Frog (originally known as The Annoying Thing)
is a Swedish CGI-animated character and Eurodance
musician created in 2003 by actor and playwright
Erik Wernquist. Marketed by the ringtone provider
Jamba!, the character was originally created to accompany
a sound effect produced by Daniel Malmedahl while
attempting to imitate the sound of a two-stroke engine.
The Crazy Frog spawned a worldwide hit single with
a cover version of "Axel F" (from the soundtrack of
Beverly Hills Cop), which reached the number one
spot in Turkey, New Zealand, Australia and most of Europe.
History
The Adventures of the Iconic Toad,
making funny noises, started back in the 90s,
when 17-year-old Swede Daniel Malmedal posted
on his website, he records how he imitates the operation
of the engine with his voice.
These sound files quickly spread on the Internet
and were used for different purposes.

Crazy Frog's musical story begins
only in 2005, when two members of the German
production group Bass Bumpers, Henning and Reinhard Wright,
commissioned to compose a danceable single,
based on the Crazy Frog ringtone. Thus was born the single "Axel F",
a dance remix of the title theme from the 1984 film Beverly Hills Cop,
where Eddie Murphy plays a character named Axel F (Axel Foley).
The success of the single is equally astounding:
in Europe "Axel F" instantly went to first place
in the charts, quickly overtaking all competitors….
