Il legionario, film diretto Peter MacDonald, è ambientato a Marsiglia, in Francia, nel 1925 e racconta la storia di Alain Lefevre (Jean-Claude Van Damme), un pugile costretto sotto pagamento da Lucien Galgani (Jim Carter), un boss mafioso a perdere un incontro. Ma Alain vince ugualmente il match e in seguito cerca di fuggire in America con Katrina (Ana Sofrenovic), la fidanzata del boss. Il suo piano, però, non va a buon fine e il pugile per trovare una via di fuga, decide di unirsi alla legione straniera e viene spedito in Marocco per combattere contra la resistenza araba.
